Home Renovation Savings Program (HRS)
Effective: January 28th, 2025
The program includes two streams: 2+ upgrades (requires Home Energy Assessment) and at least 1+ (requires No Home Energy Assessment).
Rebates vary based on the upgrade, with a maximum of $5,000 for Enbridge gas-heated homes and $10,000 for electrically heated homes.
How do I get started?
- Check your eligibility here.
- If eligible, before you apply:
- Homes heated by Enbridge Gas or connected to Ontario’s electricity grid.
- Detached, semi-detached, row/town homes, or mobile homes (permanent foundation).
- Must be occupied for at least 6 months (new builds excluded).
- Additional notes:
- No "grandfathering" for ongoing HER or HER+ program participants.
- Canada Greener Homes Loan is stackable; rebate stacking within the program is not allowed.
Better Homes Ottawa
Status: Currently available
This program offers low-interest, 20-year loans of up to $125,000 (or 10 percent of the current value assessment of the home, whichever is less) to cover the cost of home energy improvements. Eligible measures include thermal envelope upgrades, mechanical systems, renewable energy, EV chargers (Level 2), and the addition of rental suites (up to a maximum of 30% of the value of the loan).

Government Program: Oil to Heat Pump Affordability
Status: Currently available
The program helps eligible homeowners with median income or less who are currently heating their homes with oil make the transition to a better, more efficient option.
There is no need for a home energy evaluation as part of this program.
The strengthened program is available to eligible homeowners to help transition to an eligible heat pump system.

Government Program: Canada Greener Homes Loan
Status: Currently available
This federal program provides an interest-free loan of up to $40,000 to cover the costs of energy-efficient retrofits, including solar panel systems.
The loan is repayable over 10 years, and the solar installation must be recommended by an energy advisor as part of an approved retrofit.
